Cast Glass Bowls
Deborah creates elegant textured bespoke cast glass bowls. The allure of 23.5ct gold sets off the jewel like colours.
The surface of the bowls is created by using highly textured fabrics. The juxtaposition of surface marks such as the weave, frayed edges or structural folds of deeply ribbed fabric create the composition. The technique also works with other imagery so it can be a joy to intersperse the abstract pieces with flowers, berries and daisies!
A mould is made from this in which the glass and gold are fired in the kiln. After firing the mould is broken away, a one off piece!
The edges are highly polished which highlights the colour and contrasts with the opacity of the textured glass. The deceptive simplicity of the design results in a beautiful centrepiece.
