GLASS CLASSES
My aim is to share with you my passion for glass and enable you to create your own pieces.
Once you have the basic skills you can then create and make your own designs with my support.

Glass classes on
The Borde Hill Estate, Haywards Heath, West Sussex
One Day Fused Glass Workshops:
Level 1
This one day workshop is designed to introduce beginners to fused glass, as well as the world of glass!
Students will make a set of 4 coasters. Which you can hang on a wall or in front of a window if you prefer.
Techniques include glass cutting, casting plaster moulds to create texture in glass, grinding the glass to fit and firing in the kiln.
Designs will be available with a choice of coloured glass.
The emphasis will be on the craft skills required for students to create coasters to fire on completion of the class.
These skills form the basis of future glass work which may be bowls, panels, mirrors etc – it’s a very versatile technique.
Level 2:
This time the choice widens out! Students can make various bowls – square, round, oblong, or a curved sculpture. This includes a second firing to slump the glass. Or wall panels, windows or mirrors.
Or possibly more coasters with more complex designs.
If you prefer more functional pieces you could try a cheese board with a matching handle, a very elegant triple candle holder or a wall clock.
At this point designs can include curves and circles.
There are plenty of options and I discuss designs and colours in advance so that students get the most out of the day and ensures I have the colours you would like.
You may want to make a range of smaller pieces which are perfect for gifts.
Additional glass can be purchased for the larger pieces, I charge the price of extra materials at cost.
Notes are given for various firing schedules.
