Rocky Moorland Outcrop

This art glass sculpture is inspired by a rocky outcrop on a hillside setting which is catching the rays of the sun. It has 3 shades of green, yellow suggesting the sun and is lightly textured.
My art glass sculptures are constructed by hand using chunks of American Bullseye Glass to create natural forms. They are free standing.
Each composition is different. It’s only after firing that I will see if I’ve captured the essence of my inspiration. The firing for my smaller sculptures is 3 days
These pieces explore the beauty of stone bridges, harbour walls, waterfalls and rocky outcrops from various British locations such as the Isle of Skye, Pembrokeshire and the Isles of Scilly.

Harbour Wall in Sunlight

This art glass sculpture is inspired by a harbour on a summer’s day. An array of blues suggests sparkling water under blue skies, the reds and ambers reflect brightly painted boat hulls. The composition of horizontals and verticals suggest the movement of water and boats.
My art glass sculptures are constructed by hand using chunks of American Bullseye Glass to create natural forms. They are free standing.
Each composition is different. It’s only after firing that I will see if I’ve captured the essence of my inspiration. The firing for my larger sculptures is 6 days

This art glass sculpture is inspired by sun setting over a rocky outcrop at sea. The blues include aquamarine, turquoise and indigo with highlights of yellow and amber red.

Glass sculpture – Arched Bridge over water

My rocky glass sculptures are constructed by hand using chunks of American Bullseye Glass to create natural forms.
This is a 3 dimensional free standing piece in shades of blue, pale lavender, amber, topaz and clear glass.
Each composition is different, it’s only when it’s taken out of the kiln after a 5 day firing that I can see the result and tell if I’ve captured the essence of my inspiration.
This piece is inspired by an arched bridge over water, drawing you in by the light beyond the bridge.
My glass sculptures explore the beauty of stone bridges, harbour walls, dry stone walling and rocky outcrops.

Art glass platter with black and gold base

This decorative art glass platter is a unique take on a cake stand! It can be used as a beautiful functional item, or left bare as it is a very striking piece of art glass.

This piece is quite complicated to make. First I made the round black base flecked with 23.5ct gold. This is fired for 3 days and polished.
Then, using textured fabric I made a plaster mould incorporating the base and fire this in the kiln with clear glass, again over 3 days.
The mould is broken away and finally I highly polish the rim which creates a lovely contrast to the texture on the underside.

I love the depth created by the transparent glass over the black and gold base.
No two of my handmade art glass platters are the same! However many of these glass pieces I make opening the kiln and seeing the result is always a joy!

Decorative art glass bowl fired with gold lustre

My decorative art glass bowls are fired in a handmade mould using chunks of American Bullseye Glass. The mould is broken away so each bowl is a one off piece. Then it has a second firing to form it into a bowl shape.
It’s at this stage I paint on gold lustre to highlight elements of the composition. The final stage is to polish the edges.
The bowl has a variety of textures created from casting into plaster highly textured fabrics which form the composition and pattern. This is on the top surface of the bowl, The base is fire polished. The slight opaqueness of the texture contrasts beautifully with the highly polished rim and base.
No two of my handmade art glass bowls are ever the same! However many of these I make opening the kiln and seeing the result is always a joy!
They create a centrepiece in a room and look beautiful piled high with fruit!
