This rocky sculptures series has meadow and sea grasses engraved onto the surface of the glass.
The compositions are evocative of the landscape and suggest rocks and stones placed harmoniously together, contrasting defined edges with the softness of adjacent vegetation. The blocks of colour echo the surrounding landscape, water and sky. They have a sense of place and atmosphere.

This handmade art glass sculpture is a new addition to my rocky sculptures series. The composition is new and I’ve used a new technique to add more detail to the surface. Meadow and sea grasses are engraved onto the surface of the glass on both sides
First I construct it by hand using chunks of American Bullseye Glass to create natural forms. Then I fire it in the kiln over several days.
It’s a 3 dimensional piece in a moody silver grey and clear glass with black etching.
Each composition is different. It’s only when I take it out of the kiln after a 6 day firing that I can see the result and find out if I’ve captured the essence of my inspiration!
