This is rocky outcrop has 3 shades of amber and clear glass. It is fired with 23.5ct gold highlights to suggest golden lichen
My art glass sculptures are constructed by hand using chunks of American Bullseye Glass to create natural forms. They are free standing.
Each composition is different, it’s only after firing that I will see if I’ve captured the essence of my inspiration. The firing for my smaller sculptures is 3 days
These pieces explore the beauty of stone bridges, harbour walls, waterfalls and rocky outcrops from various British locations such as the Isle of Skye, Pembrokeshire and the Isles of Scilly.
The compositions are evocative of the landscape and suggest rocks and stones placed harmoniously together contrasting defined edges with the softness of adjacent vegetation. And in this case suggestions of golden lichen scrambling over the rock!
The blocks of colour echo the surrounding landscape, water and sky. They have a sense of place and atmosphere and quite often reflect a season!
